NEW DARSHAM VILLAGE HALL & DEVELOPMENT

The Darsham Village Hall Management Committee are pleased to confirm that the land adjacent to the Village Hall has been sold to a Developer who is Sunbury Homes (Darsham) LLP.

This means that the development to build a new village hall together with a village green will go ahead shortly. The Developer will begin preparation of detailed plans for submission to the Planning Department for Full Planning Approval as soon as possible.

At the same time the Developer will be meeting the conditions of outline approval granted previously for things such as Archaeological Survey etc.

One of their first jobs will be to provide a new road access and site splay lines will be put in place for this which will require alterations to our existing hedge around the Hall. Vehicular access to the side of the Hall will not be possible but pedestrian and disabled access will be maintained at all times via the existing foot paths and entrances.

The existing Hall will remain and be available for all our users until the New Hall is finished and we will then exchange the old for the new. It is early days for exact time periods but we will keep you informed via the web site and notice boards.

DEVELOPMENT FOR NEW HALL

HAVING PLACED THE SUB-BASE FOR THE FIRST PART OF THE NEW ROAD AND DUG THE DRAINAGE DITCH TO THE SOUTHERN BOUNDARY THE WORK AT THE SITE HAS STOPPED. THE NEXT PART OF THE WORK WOULD HAVE BEEN TO CUT THE NEW ENTRANCE ROAD THROUGH TO THE STREET.

HOWEVER IN ORDER TO CAUSE THE LEAST DISTURBANCE TO THE VILLAGE IT IS POSTPONED TEMPORARILY.

CURRENTLY PLANS AND DETAILS ARE BEING COMPLETED FOR SUBMISSION TO THE LOCAL AUTHORITY FOR FULL TOWN PLANNING AND BUILDING REGULATIONS APPROVAL.

WHEN CONSENT IS GIVEN TO THE DETAILS THE NEW ROAD CONNECTION WILL BE PLACED READY FOR COMMENCING WORK ON THE DEVELOPMENT.

UPDATE APRIL 2018

WE ARE GIVING THIS UP-DATE TO KEEP YOU INFORMED OF THE PROPOSED WORK. THE DEVELOPER (SUNBURY HOMES) HAVE, LIKE ALL OF US, SUFFERED FROM THE APPALLING WEATHER OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS. INDEED THEY INFORM US THAT 17,000 GALLONS OF WATER WERE PUMPED OFF THE SITE OF PLOTS 4-7 AFTER THE BANK HOLIDAY IN ORDER TO CONTINUE FURTHER WORKS, AND FOR THE REQUIRED INSPECTIONS TO TAKE PLACE.

OUT OF COURTESY TO THE VILLAGE, AND AS A GESTURE OF GOODWILL TO US, THEY OFFERED TO START WORK ON THE HALL AT THE SAME TIME AS BUILDING THE HOUSING UNITS (THEY DIDN’T ACTUALLY HAVE TO START ON THE HALL UNTIL 10 HOUSES WERE BUILT AND SOLD).

AS WITH ANY DEVELOPMENT OF THIS NATURE, THERE HAVE BEEN SOME REQUIRED AMENDMENTS IN SOME DESIGN AND STRUCTURE DETAILS OF THE HALL, WHICH ENGINEERS AND ARCHITECTS ARE IRONING OUT BETWEEN THEMSELVES AND, WHEN THEY HAVE FINISHED, FURTHER PROGRESS WILL BE MADE. THIS WILL HAPPEN OVER THE COMING DAYS.

IT’S WORTH REMINDING EVERYONE THAT THE VILLAGE HAS WAITED 20+ YEARS FOR A NEW HALL –PLEASE BE PATIENT IT’S ON THE WAY
